I have been looking for a good shout box for a while. I found your and thought - Finally. I installed it and entered some shout text and pressed send.

Instead of my shout appearing, my entire home page appeared squeezed into the shoutbox and forced the shoutbox module to expand to accommodate it.

I had a similar problem with 123 FlashChat that could not be fixed. Other shoutboxes, however, work. They just don't offer the features I would like to have.

I wonder if this is something you have experienced before. I tried using it on two different sites and with different Joomla templates to see if I could understand the problem, but it was the same.

this is in fact the first time, this bug is reported.
The only explanation for this, is an error in the AJAX sending and reciving of the shoutbox.

To send and recive shouts the shoutbox querys the default url for your site (this means the URL for your Joomla installation not containing the "index.php?xxxx" part). If the shoutbox is not not published on the frontpage (or if the content of your frontpage is outputed before the shoutbox module is rendered) this error might happen. Other shoutboxes may use this technique too.
If this is the reason, simply publishing the shoutbox on the frontpage should fix it.

In the next minor release, there will be the posibility for the shoutbox to work on site's without the need of publishing it on the frontpage.

Please report back if publishing the shoutbox on the frontpage fixes the error.

I have the exact same problem. Have tried and tested and the problem is indeed that you have to at least ALSO publish the shoutbox on the homepage.

For us, this is a problem, since we only want to publish the shoutbox on top of the forum. (as more webmasters do).

If and when you have a solution for this problem we would love to hear about it, because now we have to go look for another shoutbox, while yours really was the perfect one!

Any idea when a new version will come out, fixing this issue?

Guys from what i noticed .. the problem happens only if you have the shoutbox published in other page than index.php..

If there would be a way to make tha shoutbox to work on all pages then this problem would't happen ..
