i edited width of shoutbox by going to \modules\mod_yasb\css folder and opened css file(i used dremweaver), there i edited width, you ll find 3 or 4 places to input your width, edit them all.
btw. do you have any idea how to translate this shoutbox in different language? (i posted that question in forum here but no answer so far)
